Wood Lane Countryside Day

Sunday 20 June 2010

The Wood Lane Countryside Day was held on a beautiful, hot, sunny day in June. Sheffield Woodturning Club took over the Grain Loft, with a large display of members’ work for sale and two lathes running with demonstrations going on throughout the day. We had a big collection of wooden spinning tops for sale at £1 each, with all the proceeds from their sale going to St Luke’s Hospice. Take up of the spinners was quite slow at first so Lou and Lorrie decided that as it was such a beautiful day they would set up a table in the courtyard to sell them. They soon managed to attract quite a lot of interest from children and adults alike and quickly sold out of the supply they had taken.

It was an excellent day with lots of other areas of interest, including a jazz band, art exhibition, plant sales, second hand books etc. and with the help of the beautiful weather it proved to be an excellent day out.
