Richard Findlay 23 October 2014
An interesting demo in which Richard showed how he produces a couple of his 'bread & butter' items. As a professional turner specialising in spindle work he gets asked to make a huge variety of items, but tonight he choose two simple items - a table leg and walking stick. He said one table leg is easy, but if you have to make 40, all the same, then you need to be well organised. He showed the techniques he uses and the jigs he's developed to simplify the job. The walking stick, being so long and thin, also presented a number of challenges and he showed us how, with a bit of ingenuity, you can speed up the job when you've lots to make.
