Cavendish Cancer Care Fund Raising

Sunday 2nd May 2010

A super day was had by all of us who attended the Family Fun Day in aid of Cavendish Cancer Care, held at Whirlowbrook Hall.

The club had a stand there with a lathe at the side, where several of our members demonstrated the turning of spinning tops and light pulls. Lots of spinners and light pulls were sold in aid of Cavendish Cancer care during the day, many of which were made in advance by club members, as well as those turned on the day - see Walt's "High Speed Light Pull" below

The day was made even more enjoyable by the ’Patisserie Lola’ cake stall which was situated opposite ours; their cakes are delicious.

During the day we raised £153 for the charity which was presented to Philippa Debono, the Sales and Marketing Manager of Cavendish Cancer Care at the end of the day. Don’t miss the video link on the left.

During the day at Whirlowbrook Hall, Walt, our Chairman, turned many light pulls for the charity. Just for fun, he tried to do one as quickly as possible - this is the result.
